An international student from Jamaica, Kadia Nichelle Hylton-Fraser came to Lehigh to pursue her doctorate in educational leadership. Throughout her journey, she found opportunities for thoughtful leadership that balanced the pursuit of goals with the needs of others. Among her research interests are social justice practices of principals, educational leadership and policy, and principal preparation. A Fulbright scholar and former Graduate Student Senate President, she was selected as a Jackson Scholar by the University Council for Educational Administration.
With the pandemic demonstrating the importance of people from differing backgrounds and places working together to solve problems, Michael Tahiru ’22 founded the Lehigh Africa Business Club on campus to connect people and facilitate discussions on everything from technology to the supply chain. A finance major and member of Lehigh’s men’s soccer team, Tahiru as club president helped facilitate a speaker series and an annual conference that allowed people to engage, compare ideas and network.
As president of Student Senate, Victor Cochrane ’22 represented Lehigh’s student body, helping to amplify student voices in conversations with university leadership and various organizations. Challenged by the pandemic, Cochrane worked to reinvigorate student life once everyone returned to campus. He also strived to create an environment where people not only voiced opinions but asked, how can we solve this issue? Cochrane received his bachelor’s degree in economics, with minors in business information systems and political science.
